Edit July 16th

So after being away from dA for a while I come back to find that this photo received a daily deviation in my absence.

All I can say is thanks to everyone who favorite'd / featured it =). It's probably the best welcome back present ever.

It's always been one of my favorite photos that I've taken, so I'm glad that the community here likes it as well.

Daily DeviationSadness by *Raidhyn: What an eloquent portrait... The beautiful composition of this piece is only rivaled by the loveliness of the subject herself. (Suggested by ~Clementine98 and Featured by `equivoque)

forever was over ages ago.
beautiful... good job in capturing the moment!
It's a fantastic shot, that's for certain. Kids are resilient, so part of me has to believe that this moment of apparent sadness will be fleeting, and her world will brighten, bringing with it her smile.

If you don't believe that, then all this can do is break your heart.

dA is for the literary arts, too.
beautiful. great capture of sadness, anxiety and lost placement. but like someone mentioned in the other comments that its a (hopefully) fleeting moment that will pass into happiness. but its still not right that someone that young has those complex feelings of lonliness in groups. its also sad to see the whole majority of those in the photo looking misplaced, not interacting and playing with one another in a carefree world that kids should live in. the worriedness of the face reflects to me a long underlying problem which is not understood or changeable at the moment. wish i could give that girl a hug :petting:
no...that feeling will never go away...and her sadness is eternal...it will never fade away...and you will never know... :tears:
nooo...no light in her wourld...no smile...
yes...heartbreaking... :tears:
To me she looks pensive. But it is a very beautiful capture. When the army lets go of you I think Reuters should grab you.
